Percutaneous Epididymal Sperm Aspiration (PESA)
PESA is a procedure used to extract sperm directly from the epididymis in men who cannot ejaculate sperm naturally due to a blockage in their reproductive system. This minimally invasive procedure involves using a fine needle to aspirate fluid from the epididymis, which is then examined under a microscope for sperm presence. This procedure offers hope for couples struggling with male infertility, as it provides a way to obtain viable sperm for use in assisted reproductive techniques such as Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI).
