Laparoscopic Myomectomy
Myomectomy or the removal of uterine fibroids, involves excising benign (non-cancerous) tumours formed in the uterus, primarily under the influence of the estrogen hormone. It is commonly found in women, especially those over the age of 35 with prolonged infertility. The location of the fibroid is more important than its size. Even smaller ones that bulge into the uterine chamber may cause more trouble in conceiving than larger ones that do not disturb the uterine cavity space. Therefore, the necessity of surgical removal must be decided by the doctor based on each patient's requirements. Laparoscopic fibroid removal is the ideal method as it offers the advantages of less pain, minimal scarring on the abdomen, and a shorter hospital stay.
